A Document Management System (DMS) can handle all your documents and those of your colleagues in a defined structure (folders and subfolders) and with access and version control. The DMS runs in intra- or internet.
- Usage of the DMS with a browser, 24 / 7 world-wide access.
- The DMS, its folders and documents are protected by access control lists (ACL):
- Access rights are defined for users and groups.
- Access can be read, write, delete etc.
- ACL are applied on folders and documents.
- All documents might be provided with additional information (meta data) about author, creation date, version, comment...
- Updating a document means: an new version will be created, but the old version is still there. Usually no document will be deleted in a DMS.
